Jack O Lantern Craft With Paper

This simple jack o lantern craft for kids can be created by any age. These are much easier to create than carving an actual pumpkin.

 

The supplies needed are very few… it involves a piece of construction paper, marker, scissors and glue! That’s it!

For the younger kids, just get some of the safety children’s scissors to make sure there is no accidents and your all set!

These are pretty to hang in the entrance way at home on Halloween night, or maybe over the kitchen table. Why not make my Halloween Haunted House luminary to go alongside this!

Jack O Lantern Paper Craft For Kids 

Let’s turn some regular chinese lanterns into jackolanterns with this halloween paper craft.

Craft Supplies: Construction Paper Marker Glue Scissors Ruler Pencil

Step #1: Take your piece of orange construction paper, measure 1 inch from one of the sides. Cut this off and put aside for the handle.

Step #2: With the rest of your paper, measure (on the back side) 1 inch around all four sides. Draw a border around. This will be our guide for the slits.

Step #3: On the front side, draw a big jack-o-lantern face in the center of your paper. Keep in mind this face needs to stay within that border your drew on the back.

Step #4: Flip your paper back over and on the back, measure 1 inch slits across and cut from the top to bottom border.

Step #5: Fold the paper in half. Folding from top to bottom, so the crease is horizantal (opposite your slits).

Step #6 Roll the paper into a tube and glue where two side borders meet. Glue a handle on top – you can use the piece you cut off your page originally or some string.

Now with these simple halloween crafts, just a hook and this cute lantern can be hung where ever you wish!

Line the inside with tin foil. This will cause your jack-o-lantern to light up when the sun, or light, hits it.
