St Patrick’s Day can only mean one thing, it is time to catch a leprechaun! My easy Clay Pot leprechaun trap with pictures can help kids try and find a pot of gold under the rainbow or some lucky four leaf clovers.
March is still generally chilly outside so it is the perfect time to do some fun craft activities with kids to keep them from excess screen time.
Children cannot get enough of leprechaun crafts in the lead up to March 17th so I know this keeps them entertained! Fortunately every year I do different ones to hold their attention. This year my kids were very specific that they wanted to make a new leprechaun trap.
Last year we made a toilet paper roll leprechaun trap in the shape of a top hat so this time around we decided to use different craft materials. I was planning on using a old tissue box, and I still may use this to make another one if I have time, but instead we opted for a clay pot craft.
I just love painting and decorating clay pots all year long so I knew this would be perfect.
I hope you and the kids enjoy making this as much as my family did. Please find the easy clay pot leprechaun craft procedure with images below.
St Patrick's Day can only mean one thing, it is time to catch a leprechaun! My easy Clay Pot leprechaun trap with pictures can help kids try and find a pot of gold under the rainbow or some lucky four leaf clovers. Take a clean clay pot or cement pot/vase. Apply white acrylic paint coat on the pot. If you need to apply more than one coat, wait till the first coat is completely dried and then apply the second coat. Use the PDF template or the shamrock to draw the shamrock on the clay pot. Use green paint to fill in the shamrock shape. Fill in the clay pot/vase with small pebbles or rocks. Then put some decorations inside the pot. Then cut out the rainbow from the templates. Glue the pieces of the rainbow together as shown below. Then cut out the black pot and gold coins from the templates. Use yellow markers to draw dollar signs on the coins. Glue the gold coins inside the black pot. Glue the rainbow and black pot to a stick. Then place it inside the pot/vase. Take two sticks. Cut two long pieces and four small sticks from the sticks. Place the long sticks vertically and then glue the small sticks horizontally to make a ladder. Place the ladder beside the vase/pot.Clay Pot Leprechaun Trap for Kids

I have lots and lots of other brilliant St Patrick’s Day craft ideas so why not try some of these whenever you finish your leprechaun trap.
Why not try another clay pot leprechaun craft? You could make a leprechaun hat. All you have to do is paint a clay pot green and add a black belt with gold in the middle? Perhaps you think your painting skills are excellent and you may want to paint a leprechaun face on a clay pot instead?
If you want an activity for younger kids why not encourage them to do some of my cute leprechaun colouring pages
