Paper Plate Hedgehog Craft

Who wants to learn how to make a paper plate hedgehog craft in time for Fall? Hedgehogs are an adorable Fall animal that my children are very curious about. 

I have kept this very simple indeed so that it is one of my suitable hedgehog craft preschool ideas as I know this age group love to go on nature walks and frequently encounter these. 

Hedgehog Paper Plate Craft

My kids both did a learning week all about hedgehogs. My son was able to tell me that they are nocturnal and that is why we do not see them during the day!

They also like to roll up into a ball when they are scared and think they are in danger! Can your kids tell you any hedgehog facts?

This is one of my favorite animal paper plates to make especially during October and November.

Paper Plate Hedgehog Craft

Materials

• Paper Plate
• Paint.
• Paintbrushes.
• Pencil.
• Ruler.
• Scissors.
• Glue.
• Marker Pens.
• Googly Eyes.

Instructions

Step 1:

Select a paper plate for your paper plate hedgehog craft. 

Step 2:

Use the PDF templates to cut out the pattern for the paper plate hedgehog.

Step 3:

Select a brownish-yellow shade for the paper plate hedgehog’s body.

Step 4:

Color the hedgehog’s entire body and allow the paint to dry. You can use markers instead of paint if you prefer.

Step 5

Paint the hedgehog’s spines using a dark brown color. The darker the more contrast with the body.

Step 6:

Use black paint to fill in the nose area of the hedgehog. 

These coloring steps are simple for young children.

Step 7:

Use a black marker pen to draw outlines on the hedgehog. You can also use a thin brush and black paint. 

Step 8:

Draw the mouth using black paint. 

Step 9:

Glue a googly eye on the hedgehog. 

Step 10:

Then cut out the cheeks from pink craft paper and glue it on the hedgehog. 

Teachers can use this hedgehog paper plate craft for kids for a school project to support learning.

Coloring the hedgehog and adding facial features is easy enough for preschool kids provided they are given the templates.
