Help us make these butterfly crafts and in the end you will get some cute little butterfly magnets for the fridge. These little beauties are super easy to make, and use minimal supplies.
Fill your fridge with these cute magnets, make sure to make them in all kinds of colors. You could make some red and black ones for Valentine’s Day and some green and orange ones for St Patrick’s Day.
All you need is some pipe cleaners and googly eyes – a bit of glue to hold them together.

How to Make Butterfly Magnet Crafts for Preschoolers
Craft Supplies:
- Pipe cleaners (bright colors)
- Googly eyes
- Magnetic strips
- Scissors
- Glue (if adult is present, hot glue will hold better)
Age Range:
- 5+ years old.
Time to Complete:
- 15-20 minutes
Step #1:
You will repeat this step with all the butterflies you wish to make. Bend one half of a piece into a loop. Wrapping it to the other end to hold it in place.
Step #2:
Create a second bend in the pipe cleaner to create one wing.
Step #3:
Keep bending into loops until you have four. This is your wings of your butterfly. You will repeat steps one through three until you have all the butterflies you would like.
Step #4:
Cut a yellow pipe cleaner into smaller pieces. These pieces need to be large enough to be the body of your butterfly. Glue two googly eyes to each one.
Step #5:
Glue the yellow pipe cleaner into the center of the wings on each butterfly.
Step #6
Take a strip of magnet and glue it on the reverse. The strips are usually coated with adhesive but we find it doesn’t always stick nicely to pipe cleaners, so it is suggested an adult hot glue these in place.
Now, your butterfly crafts are complete and ready for display on the fridge!
You can display these on any surface that is magnetic. Make a ton of them in every color of the rainbow!
Aren’t they adorable!
