Everyone likes to have their Christmas tree well decorated for Santa coming, and these DIY Yarn Christmas tree ornaments will enhance the look of your tree significantly. This is one of my favorite Christmas yarn crafts!

Kids will love this easy Christmas craft but will need some help wrapping the yarn. In any case they will love adding the buttons to the tree! Great for exercising those fine motor skills.

How to make your own Yarn Christmas Tree Ornaments

DIY Yarn Christmas Tree Ornaments

A beautiful Christmas tree craft for kids that lets you create a yarn wrapped tree ornament!

Materials

Large craft stick
Green yarn
Brown felt
White rick rack
Craft glue
Buttons
Scissors
Glue Gun

Instructions

Step 1: Wrap the yard around your hand about 40 times.

Step 2: Slide the yarn off your hand and snip in half.

Step 3: Split the yarn into two sections. Apply a layer of glue to ¾ of the craft stick. Allow to dry completely. Turn the craft stick over and repeat.

Step 4: Cut a small square of the felt and fold in half. Apply a layer of glue to both sides of the bottom of the craft stick. Insert the craft stick into the felt and press together. Allow to dry completely.

Step 5: Trim the yarn on both sides of the craft stick so that it is in the shape of a Christmas tree.

Step 6: Using your glue gun, attach the buttons on the front of the tree. These are your tree ornaments. Don’t add too many or they will weigh down the ornament.

Step 7: Cut a 6” length of yard, form a loop and using the glue gun, attach to the top of the back side of the craft stick.
