DIY Unicorn Card for Kids

All little girls love unicorns so it is only natural my unicorn pop up card is hugely popular! Why buy one in a shop when you can make your own!! Personalize it with your own greeting and choose whatever colors you prefer! 

This cute unicorn card features a magical unicorn and a pretty delicious looking cupcake with candle.

Of course you can add other features to this. 

You might want to add a rainbow at the top of the card or extra sparkles in the form of glitter and sequins! 

Just one of my easy unicorn crafts for kids! I do plan on adding lots more in the future!

How to Make Unicorn Birthday Pop Up Card

This requires a few basic supplies which you may already have or are easy and cheap to buy!

Supplies:

1. Cardstock Paper.
2. Colorful Craft Papers.
3. Golden and Silver Craft Papers.
4. Pencil.
5. Glue. 
6. Scissors.
7. Ruler.

Step by Step Unicorn Birthday Pop up Card Instructions

Step 1:

Download the attached PDF templates to make the unicorn pop-up card. 

Use colorful craft papers to cut out the patterns to make the paper unicorn.

Step 2:

Glue the mouth to the unicorn’s head. 

Step 3:

Use colorful marker pens to color the unicorn’s fringe, hair, and tail. I have colored them as below. They look like a rainbow; my daughter’s request. 

Step 4:

Glue the fringe and hair to the unicorn’s head. 

Step 5:

Glue the unicorn’s horn on the top of the head. 

Step 6:

Glue the body to the head.

Step 7:

Join the unicorn’s tail on the back of the body. 

Step 8: 

Use colorful marker pens to draw the unicorn’s nose, face, and cheeks. 

Step 9:

Cut out the pieces to make the cupcake from colorful craft papers. You can change the colors if you want to change the flavor of the cupcake. 

Step 10:

Use colorful marker pens to draw the details on the cupcake as shown below. 

Step 11:

Glue the top and bottom parts of the cupcake together. 

Step 12:

Glue the colorful sprinkles on the cupcake.

Step 13:

Cut out the candle pattern from the templates. 

Step 14:

Glue the flame and wax together. 

Step 15:

Cut out a piece of cardstock piece (1.5x longer than the cupcake, and the same width as the cupcake and unicorn’s width when they are placed side by side.). Fold the piece in half and then, make 1-centimeter folds on each end. 

Step 16:

Glue the cardstock piece on the center of your main card. 

Step 17:

Glue the unicorn and the cupcake on the pop-up card socket.

If you are feeling really adventurous you may wish to design your own unicorn as opposed to crafting it with colored construction paper. My easy unicorn drawing for kids will help you do so.
