I always like to do arts and crafts based on their hobbies. My list of easy dinosaur crafts are growing and my latest is this cute handprint dinosaur which is easy to make with paint and some paper!
This is a great painting activity to do with preschool boys and girls who love dinosaurs.
You can make as many of these as you wish. Why not get the whole class to make some and have a poster display of all the tiny handprint dinos.
Little kids love making a dinosaur handprint using their tiny hands! Such a simple fun art project which can be done in less than 15 minutes Step 1: Select a colored craft paper and the same colored acrylic paint for the dinosaur handprint craft. Select a different colored craft paper for the spots. Prepare the Add a few drops of water if the paint is too thick or hard. Step 2: Wash, clean and dry your hands. Use a thick paint brush to apply the acrylic paint on the palm of your hand. Make sure to cover the palm nice and evenly. Take a piece of white cardstock paper and press the painted palm against the paper. Keep the palm on the paper for a few seconds and then remove your hand gently from the paper. Allow the paint to dry completely. Step 4: Use scissors to cut out the hand print from the paper. Step 5: Trace and cut out the dinosaur head (and neck) pattern and eyes from the template. The template includes 5 different sizes; you can select the size appropriate for your craft. Cut out some small round shapes from a colored craft paper for the Attach the eye cutouts on the head part of the dinosaur paper cutout. Step 7: Use a sharpie to draw the mouth-line of the dinosaur. Step 8: Attach the dinosaur paper pattern with the hand-printed cutout, opposite to the thumb. The thumb will be the tail of the dinosaur. Keep with the animal theme and make a hand turkey in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
You can do lots with these dinos. You could stick a popsicle stick on the back and use them as puppets. Alternatively you could stick them onto the front of some cardstock and make a greeting card. My dinosaur pop up card is a huge hit for Father’s Day so I can imagine this handprint card idea would be awesome too.
