If you get really good at this penguin craft you can make a whole scenery on a large piece of bristol board.
Have an Eskimo with their igloo, a penguin and polar bear as pets! This is a great way to educate young children about different habitats.
Why not encourage kids to do this penguin drawing easy after they have made the paper craft.
Mosaic Penguin Crafts for Preschool Kids
Let’s start tearing up some paper and create our masterpiece! Even toddlers will enjoy this torn paper penguin craft!
Craft Supplies:
- Construction paper (black, white, orange)
- Blue piece of paper, or cardstock (for added sturdiness)
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Pencil
Step #1:
Use your pencil and draw an outline of your penguin on the blue paper. It does not have to be exact or detailed, it is just a guideline.
Step #2:
Tear up a pile of each color of construction paper – black, orange and white. These can be square or round pieces, your choice.
Step #3:
Glue the black torn pieces all over the area that will be the body of your penguin.
You can leave spaces or overlap, again your choice on how you want it to look.
Leave a space between the wings and body though, so we can tell he has wings.
Step #4:
Repeat the same process, but this time with the white paper. Fill his belly area with the white.
Step #5:
Again, repeate the same process, but this time with the orange. This will be for his beak and feet.
If you need pieces to fit between the toes, you can easily tear as needed.
Step #6
Glue your googly eyes above the beak.
All that paper tearing was tiring, but now look at our masterpiece!
If you want a girl penguin simply tear up some pink paper and put a bow on her head! In fact why not make a pair, Mummy and Daddy. You can even make a baby penguin too. I love my animal family crafts like my pig and piglet craft.
