This policeman craft for kids will help children make a puppet from a paper bag! Great for pretend play and teaching kids the importance of police officers.
I love puppet crafts for kids as they are super easy to make and great for language developmental through story telling afterwards.
You can turn almost anything into a puppet! I normally use popsicle sticks or brown paper bags for my puppet crafts. Previously I have made some animal puppets which were a huge hit!
I do love the theme ‘People who Help Us’ as my kids cover this frequently at school. It is a great way to teach them about the roles of different professional people in our community.
My toilet paper roll Fireman craft was adored by little boys everywhere as they all want to be a fireman when they grow up!
We all know little boys also idolise policemen! My step by step paper bag police puppet craft procedure below will help you make this police officer!
This policeman craft for kids will help children make a puppet from a paper bag! Great for pretend play and teaching kids the importance of police officers. Step 1: Select a colored craft paper for the skin tone (trace the head and hands on it) and a colored craft paper for the hair of the police officer puppet, select blue for the uniform and hat, yellow or golden for the badges and the belt-buckle, black for the tie and belt, and brown for the shoes. Step 2: Attach the hair cutout on the top side of the head cutout (the straight end), attach the hand cutouts to the sleeve cutouts, attach the big badge on the hat cutout, and attach the belt to the buckle cutout. Attach the hat pattern on the top side of the head, overlapping the hair slightly. Step 4: Attach the eye cutouts on the head and use a sharpie to draw the mouth-line and nose of the papercraft policeman figure. Select a paper bag and prepare a piece of blue colored craft paper to cover any one side of the paper bag. This would be the front side of the puppet and the uniform. Step 6: Attach the belt along the middle part of the attached blue paper. Flatten the bottom side of the paper bag and attach the head pattern on the bottom side. The open side of the bag will be the bottom side of the puppet. Step 8: Attach the tie and the small badge on the top part of the puppet figure, above the belt. Attach the shoe cutouts along the bottom side of the puppet (the open side of the bag). Use a sharpie to trace line to divide the legs.Policeman Craft for Kids

Can you think of more police officer crafts you could make? You could make a policeman from a toilet paper roll or using a paper plate. You could also make a police officer’s car with a flashing red siren! Or how about making some handcuffs? Twisting pipe cleaners into circles would work for these.
What about others who help us? You could try and make a doctor or nurse.

I would like to use the police officer paper bag puppet as a summer craft for our local library this summer. Would you mind if I did that? Our theme is community helpers; each week highlighting the vehicles and the people whom keep us safe. The story & craft will be for 3-6 year olds. If you need the name of our library, please let me know! Thank-you!
