My easy rainbow pop up card is perfect for kids to make for St Patrick’s Day. It also features a pot of gold and some shamrocks and will hopefully make the recipient have a lucky day!
St Patrick’s Day is a great Irish celebration on March 17th! Living in N.Ireland means I love doing lots of things to celebrate the special day especially since my kids have the day off school.
We love crafting, especially making St Patrick’s Day cards to send to friends and family.
I have already made a lucky leprechaun card and a shamrock pop up card
This time around I decided to feature something else associated with St Patrick’s Day; yes you guessed it a pot of gold under the rainbow!
My rainbow pop up card craft instructions below will take you through each individual step.
Rainbow Pop Up Card for St Patrick's Day
My easy rainbow pop up card is perfect for kids to make for St Patrick's Day. It also features a pot of gold and some shamrocks
Materials
- Cardstock paper.
- Craft papers.
- Pencil.
- Ruler.
- Scissors.
- Glue.
Instructions
Step 1:
Gather the supplies and print out the PDF templates.
Cut out the elements from the template. This is what you should have,
Step 2:
Start gluing the pieces of the rainbow together.
Step 3:
Finish gluing the pieces for the rainbow (large to small). It should look like the image below. Of course you can use whichever shades of craft paper you wish.
Step 4:
Prepare your card according to the size of the individual elements (rainbow, shamrocks etc.)
Step 5:
Cut and fold the closed side of the card according to the “card template” found at the bottom of the post.
Step 6:
Push the folded part inwards the card. It will resemble the image below.
Step 7:
Fold the rainbow in half. You can see why we are doing this in the next step.
If you are unsure just follow the images.
Step 8:
This is how the card looks from the inside. As you can see we have a bit that 'pops up'. This is where the rainbow will go.
Step 9:
Glue the folded rainbow on the pop socket to make it 'pop up'
Step 10:
Take the gold coins and the black pot.
Step 11:
Draw dollar signs on the coins. I am in the UK so I may choose to draw Pound signs. If you are in the EU you may draw Euro signs. Just draw whichever currency applies.
Step 12:
Then, glue the coins to the pot as shown.
Step 13:
Glue the gold coins pot near the rainbow. This is to represent a pot of gold under the rainbow.
Step 14:
Glue the shamrock leaves inside the card.
Step 15:
Select a back cover for your card. The color of card you pick does not matter. A turquoise blue might also work well with these colors. You could also go for purple for a vibrant St Patrick's Day card.
Step 16:
Glue the cover to the card.
Step 17:
Decorate the card with colourful circular punched papers. Here again you can decorate with whatever you want.
