All little kids love space rockets! Some even dream of being an astronaut and flying in one to Mars! My alien spaceship paper plate craft is a huge hit with little kids, so I am sure they will love this paper rocket craft just as much!

While you are doing this activity get little kids to think about Space and what sort of things they might find there. They might want to talk about the different planets, stars, astronauts etc. Maybe this toilet roll rocket ship might inspire them to make something else in the future.

Rocket Craft with Toilet Paper Roll

This rocket craft with toilet paper roll is perfect for kids who love all things Space! Use it as part of a learning theme i.e outer Space or even methods of transport.

Materials

1. Colored craft papers
2. Toilet paper roll
3. Craft glue
4. Pencil
5. Scissors

Instructions

Step 1:

Select different colored craft paper for the rocket craft. Use yellow and orange for the flame patterns and select colored craft papers of your choice for the rest of the patterns. You can pick whatever color you wish your rocket to be. Of course you can make more than 1 in different colors.

Trace and cut out the patterns evenly.

Step 2:

Stick the flame cutouts together, the small cutout on the medium cutout and then the medium cutout on the big cutout.

Stick the small round cutouts on the relatively big round cutouts; these are the windows of the rocket.

If you were really creative you could draw a smiley face on one of these windows to represent a happy astronaut traveling to Space.

Step 3:

Wrap the TP roll with a piece of craft paper.

Step 4:

Stick round window cutouts on the TP roll, one under the other one. Stick the flame cutout on the bottom side of the TP roll, gluing the flame pattern towards the inner side of the roll.

Step 5:

Grab the stand cutouts and attach them with the roll by inserting the slits through the roll from the bottom end.

Step 6:

Check if the TP roll can be placed straight up on the stands.

Step 7:

Prepare the cone template pattern.

Step 8:

Roll the cone template to create the cone.

Apply glue at the open ends to secure the cone pattern.

Step 9:

Attach the paper cone on the top end of the TP roll rocket pattern to complete the craft.

Can you do a countdown from 10 to zero to help this craft rocket out of toilet paper roll take off into outer space?! This is a great way to incorporate counting into crafting and of course it is all fun!
