Our Fruit Cup Turkey Appetizer Holder is one of the best turkey crafts for kids. These are a great and unique way to lay out some appetizers for Thanksgiving dinner.
One of my favorite Thanksgiving crafts for preschool.
Preschool Turkey Craft – Make an Appetizer Holder
We all know that all our stomachs are grumbling as we wait for the turkey to be brought to the table.
With this turkey craft you can lay out some nuts or a quick treat for each guest to hold everyone over. I guess this is a similar edible Thanksgiving craft to my brown paper bag turkey!
There are a number of goodies you can fill these with.
Here’s a few ideas: Mixed nuts, popcorn, candies, mints, etc.
This craft idea can also be a fun way to give a little Thanksgiving cheer to your teacher or classmates.
If you want to make a larger scale version, to fill with a present or more goodies, you can re-create this exact craft using say a tin can or a bowl.
How adorable is this Turkey Thanksgiving craft !
How to make Fruit Cup Turkey Appetizer Holder – Thanksgiving Crafts for Preschool
Enjoy our turkey crafts for kids with this addition to the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Craft Supplies:
- Construction paper (variety of colors)
- Fruit cup (empty and clean)
- Paint (brown)
- Paintbrush
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue
Step #1:
Paint the outside of the fruit cup with the brown paint. To ensure it is evenly covered, you may have to put more than one coat. This will be the body of your turkey.
Set is aside to dry completely.
Step #2:
Pick out some colorful construction paper – we chose red, green, orange and yellow.
Cut out a bunch of feather shapes. Make sure they are big enough to be proportional to your fruit cup.
Step #3:
Paint a piece of white construction paper with the same brown paint. You can also choose to use a brown construction paper, if you have a color that matches nicely. We didn’t have a matching brown so we decided to go the painting route.
Allow this to dry as well.
Step #4:
Cut out a square of construction paper (any color) and glue the feathers together to make your turkey’s tail.
Make sure this is wide enough that it fits inside the fruit cup.
Step #5:
Once the construction paper that you painted in Step 4 is dry, cut it into a turkey head. Again, making sure it is proportional to your fruit cup body.
Glue on some googly eyes. Cut out a beak and wattle out of construction paper and glue them in place as well.
Step #6
Glue your feathers to the inside of the fruit cup. Glue the turkey head on the inside the the cup as well, but on the opposite side of the fruit cup.
Now, all you need to do is choose what you wish to fill your turkey appetizer holder with, and set the table for your guests!
