Easy Watermelon Craft for Kids
Paper crafts are hugely popular and a frugal craft idea for little kids who like to play with their finished craft afterwards.
Watermelons are so refreshing to eat on a Summer’s day, but you can also use them to cool you down in the form of a easy paper fan!
Previously I have made a Watermelon dinner set using paper plates and plastic cups so I thought my paper watermelon fan would be the perfect accompaniment on a hot Summer’s Day!
My easy step by step watermelon paper craft procedure will show you how to make this cute paper fan in the shape of a watermelon.
We all need something to keep us cool this Summer and my Watermelon fan craft is perfect for doing so! Not only does it look cool it is functional as well! Plus it is ideal for girls or boys! Step 1: Select pink and 2 different shades of green colored craft papers. Trace and cut out a 12 inches long and 3.5 inches wide paper from the pink paper. Trace a 12 inches x 1.5 inches on dark green paper and 12 inches x 1 inch on light green paper. You can keep the length longer if you want to. Cut out the traced papers. Step 2: Attach the light green colored strip along either side of the pink paper. Overlap both papers lightly, about 0.5 cm will do. Step 3: Attach the dark green paper strip along the open end of the light green paper. Again, overlap both papers slightly. Allow the glue to dry entirely before proceeding to the next step. Step 4: Use a black sharpie to draw seed shapes on the pink part of the papers. Keep the seeds away from the green borders. Little kids will enjoy drawing these shapes. Let them practice before drawing on the pink paper. Step 5: Carefully, create accordion folds on the paper. Try to keep the folds small, nice and even as much as you can. Step 6: Hold the pink side of the accordion folded paper together and use a clear tape to join that part tightly. This will form a fan shape. Step 7: Cut out a square shape from a thick paper or cardstock paper, we’re using a 3 inches x 2 inches paper. Wrap the paper around the narrow end of the fan pattern and then glue the open end of the wrapped paper to secure it. This will be the handle of the paper fan. Watermelon Fan Craft with Paper
